I can't honestly can't think of a funnier premise. If they wrote the episode for Danny (written for his physical dimensions and everything) and there was literally no comment or reference to it at all, I think I'd actually pee myself. Like Arnold in bed with Charlie but he's so big he takes up most of the bed and Charlie is like sleeping half off the bed but both of them act like it's normal.
24
u/FappyDilmore Mar 23 '23
I'd want them to make references to Frank's size repeatedly too, like have him in a situation that calls for his small stature like when he went looking for his will in the heating ducts; or shitting on him for modding his countach because he couldn't reach the doors.

I feel that there might be reputation considerations about going on the show. I mean, he's a former governor who is still pretty politically active, and I don't remember him ever doing something as edgy as Sunny. I don't doubt he probably likes it, but being on it might not be in what he considers his best interests PR wise.
Arnold actually has done small movies for very little pay, there was a movie recently where he was the bad guy and it was a pretty small movie where he only filmed for two days, but it was like responding to an e-mail saying he'd do it or something crazy like that.

He really does. I saw a talk show interview where he was asked if his rivalry with Sylvester was real and all in good fun or not, and he says it was. He then told a story where he said he faked being into a movie that he thought was gonna be terrible so that Stallone would fight for it.

Always Sunny is union, and even in union you can still work scale. Just because he can command a $10M paycheck doesn't mean that's the only rate he *can* take.

No, any SAG actor can choose to work minimum scale if they want. Jonah Hill did just that for Wolf of Wall Street.
29
u/annabelle411 Mar 22 '23
He's worth half a billion dollars. He did Epic Rap Battles announcer one time and a couple dozen episodes of Superhero kindergarten. If something was a fun opportunity for him, he'd seem like he'd take it for the hell of it.
17
u/banyan55 Mar 22 '23
It really depends on the project. Brad Pitt’s appearance on deadpool 2 was for the minimum allowable rate under SAG. Something like $250. Sometimes actors really do something “for the lulz”

It really is though, actors do things for the luls or purely because they want to all the time. Like Jonah Hill took a super small check to act in the Wolf of Wall Street just to work with Scorsese. People like Trump did a cameos in Home Alone 2, just to get his name out there or whatever. I doubt he was doing that for a big paycheck. Imagine if you were suddenly a big A-lister, is there no movie or show you'd do a cameo for just because? Even if a big paycheck wasn't involved?

28

Have the budget it may,
However sunny does pride itself somewhat in being able to do things without spending the usual 'hollywood' money
So whilst they will have enough to get it done, or can request the money to get it done. There's a high chance they will stick to that principle at the expense of the joke rather than doing the joke at the expense of Thier principles

12
u/sophiebophieboo Mar 22 '23 edited Mar 22 '23
If I remember correctly, Charlie was trying to recall how much it was and knowing that it was very expensive, guessed $70k. I think he was corrected by Glenn who said it was actually $20k, which was still more than they had ever paid. It’s highly possible that I’m not remembering correctly, though.
EDIT: Found it, and holy shit, it was $70-80k. The reason I remembered $20k is because Rob mentioned that they’d never spent more than $20k on a song previously. Charlie had actually guessed $200k.

Having the regular cast not acknowledge the change from Devito —> Schwarzenegger. He just stumbles in to each scene wearing Danny’s clothes and doing Frank’s lines. Maybe even as a one-off bit he can have a folded over script in one hand and have to read off it. The episode would have to be a boring premise like the gang goes to pawn a television and just never makes it to the shop.

I want an episode with them both in it and you get that Sci-Fi trope where there are two identical people, one is the evil imposter and the other the "real Frank" and everybody in the gang can't tell the difference and they do that "Only I would know that you pee'd yourself in 3rd grade" stories...
But in the end it turns out Frank is trying to prank the gang, and the gang are trying to prank Frank and both have paid Arnold for the ploy and he is playing both sides.

I think an episode like that would be where they know the whole time it's not actually frank but never acknowledge it till the end. Frank jumps out and says "I got you guys, you thought it was me the whole time but it's really just some guy that looks exactly like me" followed by his frank laugh. Then someone in the gang, probably Dennis or Mac, will say something like "no shit, we knew it wasn't actually you the whole time, but calling that out is more of a waste of time than just letting you play you're stupid "prank"". Charlie would be genuinely confused as to why there are two franks and then everyone but frank would just point out "they look absolutely nothing alike!".
