Sucked in losers, my trains been replaced by a bus!

52

u/the_silent_redditor Mar 21 '23

The inhumanity, the true injustice of the bus replacement service just fuckin’ nearly kills me.

37

u/ryans_privatess Mar 21 '23

Hurstbridge?

22

u/drjzoidberg1 Mar 21 '23

Trains are still running to Macleod Lots of lines have disruptions

11

u/FreakySpook Mar 21 '23

Went to get the train today, service was hourly between Eltham and Macleod according to PTV(this was just after 9am) and was going to take over an hour. Ended up driving.

10

u/ringo5150 Mar 21 '23

Along with thousands of others it felt like. Took longer to get to work today than any other day this year.

Queues in Eltham, templstowe and Bulleen heading towards the inner burbs....

7

u/FreakySpook Mar 21 '23

Many businesses are now in office Tuesday and Thursdays, I've noticed it much busier on the roads these days.

14

u/Ellis-Bell- Mar 21 '23

schrodinger's train line

1

u/MikeyF1F Mar 21 '23

On a good day you're talking about the trains.

11

u/torrens86 Mar 21 '23

Hurstbridge doesn't go via Richmond.

3

u/ryans_privatess Mar 21 '23

Their reply doesn't indicate they were on ops line.

New poster for "let's go work from work" campaign?

153

u/CommentWhileShitting Mar 21 '23

After hearing OP saying it was intoxication, maybe a more suited one would be:

"Alcohol, Australia's quiet killer"

61

u/BGP_001 Mar 21 '23

"quiet"

u/potted your friendly neighbourhood cunt Mar 21 '23 edited Mar 21 '23

34

34

u/halibutherring Mar 21 '23

Git fahked.

Nah course ya can mate. Gimmie it back. Gimmie it back. Gimmie it back, aye?

11

u/Xeridanus Mar 21 '23

What lighter?

17

u/Not_Mabel_Swanton Mar 21 '23

Ciggie butt braaaains

-18

u/djmcaleer93 Mar 21 '23

I dunno, maybe he just can’t handle his liquor.

30

u/CommentWhileShitting Mar 21 '23

The same bullshit narrative that you see with first nations people regarding alcohol.

This is the epitome of the issue & the toxic booze culture in Australia right here "hurr durr harden up, prob cant handle it"

-18

u/djmcaleer93 Mar 21 '23

I wouldn’t say it’s a narrative, rather a fact.

Blokes got some individual issues. Don’t tar everyone else.

10

u/retry94 Mar 21 '23

If someone’s making bank out of an implicit challenge, it is a narrative.

Anything that helps you escape reality is profitable.

2

u/MikeyF1F Mar 21 '23

Well said.

0

u/djmcaleer93 Mar 21 '23

He's thinking "A nice change from the home office."

23

u/TheHappyKamper Mar 21 '23

My work has mandated we return minimum 2 days a week and have yet to give a good reason other than "coLlABoRatIoN and enGaGemEnt". I do software development, and have a really nice setup at home that beats the shit out of the grotty office hotdesks, which I have to commute almost an hour each way a day to get to. The kicker is my office had a COVID outbreak one of the first weeks back!

10

u/MLiOne Mar 21 '23

They just don’t get it do they (bosses/management)? I have a close friend who contracted Covid from being at work. She now has long Covid and ongoing WorkCover case (actually covered and paying). She is medically required to now work restricted hours without loss of pay. Perhaps your bosses need to know about that.

5

u/gleep23 Mar 21 '23

The management does get it, when their staff work remotely, it becomes glaringly obvious management is not required. All the things they do in an office full of staff is not required either, meetings and such.

0

u/typhoonandrew Mar 22 '23

Many in management don’t want to be there either. You might be frustrated with the wrong people.

9

u/Grandma_knows Mar 21 '23

With a shirt on, though, like half decent..

257

u/AltruisticFerret8198 Mar 21 '23

I work in the CBD and actually saw this guy today about 3:30. He wasn't drunk but had some pretty obvious mental health issues.

I hope he gets the help he needs.

44

u/GrillDruid Mar 21 '23

This is the same guy who was dragged off the tracks at South Yarra Monday. Sounds like he's having a huge breakdown and they keep turning him out.

23

u/shanetheshrimp Mar 21 '23

So glad they fixed that mental health crisis...

1

u/Hold-Administrative Mar 21 '23

Turning him out? What makes you think they have the power to keep him in?

u/Find_another_whey Mar 22 '23

He was outside Parliament Station around 5.00 pm. A couple of us passing warned him that he was close to passing traffic but he was totally out of it.

0

u/Citruseok Mar 21 '23

Wow, I passed parliament station at around 5:30pm on the train. Luckily for me he didn't think of blocking the tracks there.

4

u/oceanicnoise Mar 21 '23

Oh shit, I also saw him yesterday. He was outside the NGV at the tram stop around 11:50-ish pm and looked very fragile and unwell. Poor man.

I saw this man around 3:30 at Carlton Gardens ranting and raving. Seems he got his step count in then.

64

u/OneDryPotatoInside Mar 21 '23

We saw him at 1pm on St George’s Rd, wanking in middle of road 🤢 Reported him but guess they didn’t catch him

27

u/atwa_au Mar 21 '23

He’s had a busy day!

20

u/Purpington67 Mar 21 '23

I wonder how many people reported this to police and if they did anything. Obviously the guarding Nazis thing is priority but surely someone could have acted earlier given the fact he was seen being weird all over town?

That's Kinetic's Director of Sales - doing a fine job reaching 3rd quarter's sales targets!

4

u/IAmABakuAMA Literally. Obsessed. With trains. Mar 21 '23

You guys are getting Kinetic's? In the west, we get random buses from operators that went defunct like 10 years ago held together with duct tape

Probably the same guy I saw walking around the city half dressed

58

u/Thenewdazzledentway Mar 21 '23

No, couldn’t be, this one’s half naked.

20

u/Hyerion Mar 21 '23

This is why I work from home

43

u/Captain_kangaroo2 Mar 21 '23

My train driver through a barely audible speaker “please remain on the train until we can proceed”. I LITERALLY CANT LEAVE I AM STUCK IN A METAL BOX BETWEEN PLATFORMS, but thanks for the inaudible advice. At least I had a good book

34

u/neoxman Mar 21 '23

Some people force the doors on Comeng trains or pull the emergency door releases on the newer ones in between stations. Not optimal to have more people wandering around.

10

u/hannahranga Mar 21 '23

Not uncommon for people to crack the shits and pull the emergency door releases and go run around on track

6

u/gleep23 Mar 21 '23

That happened to me one night 100m from Flinders Street, on a 38° day, with the power out, for 55 minutes!

I did start to feel anxious, and popped a few valium during that time.

40

u/Salt-Contact-3414 Mar 21 '23

Definitely his PEAK hour. Geddit…..oh I’ll show myself out, at least I can since I’m not on the train 😘

3

u/halibutherring Mar 21 '23

Nah it's not his peak hour. It's just the way his shorts bunch up.

So, according to this post and other comments, our guy was spotted yesterday:

Wanking on St George's Street at 1pm

Between Carlton Gardens and the CBD around 3:30pm

At Parliament Station at 5pm

Blocking a train at Richmond Station at 5:30pm

At the NGV at 11:50pm

Say what you will about Shirtless Guy but the man sure gets his steps in.

Bring back mental asylums

0

u/DemonInDenim Mar 22 '23

yep, that's the solution. lock them away from the rest of the world. don't allow them a single chance to receive assistance and live a normal life.

at least show a little empsthy

1

u/DarkSideTonight Mar 23 '23

Releasing people who are clearly insane and are on a path of self destruction isn't empathetic. What's empathetic is realizing there is a humane way to institutionalize the seriously mentally ill who have committed crimes.

11

u/DrSendy Mar 21 '23

Thank you, for again reminding me that pushing back against my bosses desire for me to work in the office.

Most of the team is in Sydney. All of our meetings are on teams, even if I'm in the office. So, not seeing much of a point in going in.

14

Is he suicidal?

49

I dont think so. I believe he was quite intoxicated but who knows. The police came and removed him.

5

u/isayyestospiders Mar 22 '23

That poor guy. As someone with top private health, who has resources I can't believe how hard it's been having to advocate for myself to get proper psychiatric care in Melbourne. People like this have no chance. There is nowhere near enough support available.

6

u/Hongohones Mar 21 '23

Can we just shut these kinds of threads down from now on? ffs, how many people just called for this guy to die in one place. you're all fucking disgraceful. He's someone's family. Guy probably needs help.

32

u/Seachicken Mar 21 '23

When my brother suddenly developed schitzo effective disorder in his early 20s he did something like this. He wasn't an 'addict' and hadn't done anything to bring his mental health condition upon himself (which is an all too common attitude), just something flipped in his brain chemistry and suddenly he didn't live in reality anymore.

Maybe you need to experience someone you know going through this to have perspective, but someone having a psychotic break isn't funny, it's deeply sad.

Even if this individual was on the tracks due to drug induced psychoso rather than another mental health issue more often than not there's some sort of fucked up background which drove them into that.

12

u/jamesdoesnotpost Mar 21 '23

It’s heartening to find people in here with something real to add to the conversation instead of edgelord bullshit.

Hope your brother came through it copes ok.

4

u/Hongohones Mar 21 '23

Thanks mate, exactly. My partner in my 20s would go from being a wonderful bubbly person to delusional and terrified in a matter of days all without realising she was unwell. That anyone would let themselves become so unwell deliberately is an incredibly ableist view.

4

u/Hold-Administrative Mar 21 '23

7

u/Intelligent_Try4793 Mar 21 '23

The injecting room is where they think the hub of the drugs are, where they’ve ascertained that many addicts reside/visit, where they think they can help the most people. If it was moved to where you suggest… Kew, Toorak, Camberwell… it would most likely help less people. Moving an injecting centre as a ‘fuck you’ to a particular community helps no one in the end.

I’ve had several trains delayed from people on the tracks this year already, but never before this year. Why is this suddenly a thing people are doing? -_-

That’s gonna be a hella expensive fine. It is ridiculously expensive to stop a train.

0

u/yung_yuzu 3012 Mar 22 '23

Last week, I had to wait 10 mins before getting to Tottenham cause of a trespasser on the tracks. Same thing happened last night between Albion and Sunshine. Why are so many people doing this? It's just stupid.
