The Sky is Falling When did 'having to work a second job to support my family' become a 'fun side hustle'?

1.7k Upvotes

On the morning shows, the news, advertising - Uber, food delivery - it's been rebranded to be much more normalised. 'You don't do two jobs? No side hustle? You're missing out'.

The Sky is Falling Looks like someone’s dinner is ruined. Delivered to wrong house.

Opened my front door to discover these left, no knocks or anything. Asked few of my neighbours but no order for the food. I’m vegetarian so can’t eat anything as everything has meat. I suppose this is one reason to why your food never arrives when you order delivery.

The Sky is Falling Is security at Melbourne Airport known for being a bit rude?

As much as I love visiting Melbourne, I find the security staff at the airport to be quite rude at times, and travelling through the domestic checkpoints to be quite intimidating. I know that there is new equipment that doesn't work perfectly, but that's been installed at other airports, and the staff seem more chill.

When I recently travelled, there was a South Asian lady (Indian probably) at the baggage screening machines who was snarling at people putting things on the conveyor belt buckets. Strange thing is, she was generally being brusque and rolling her eyes at "ethnic" types (Asians) for not following the rules ("put jackets under bags") but being deferential and smiling at the white passengers.

Am I being overcritical, or is Melbourne Airport security known for this sort of thing?

The Sky is Falling Is it just me or is Maccas the lowest quality fast food restaurant in Melbourne these days

I don't know if it's just a Melbourne thing or just an opinion myself and my friends hold but, McDonalds is easily the worst and consistently bad fast food restaurant in Melbourne, I get fast food about once a week on average maybe twice if I feel like pigging out, but what I've noticed in the past year is atleast over half the time I order a meal at McDonalds it has something missing, has chips that taste like they were fried 20 minutes ago then refried, drinks that taste like they don't have enough syrup mixed in and just taste like soda water... the shocking part is they consistently across different stores have these same issues meanwhile everytime I go to Hungry Jacks or KFC I don't come across these problems meanwhile HJs and KFC are cheaper and a better product, I remember maccas was pretty quality stuff in the early 2000s and even the early 2010s, what changed?

The Sky is Falling Increased Aggression on the road lately?

Hey legends. I'm wondering if anyone else feels like there's a spike in aggression on the road lately? Everyone drives like an angry gorilla. Some young tradie rolled down his window to heckle me on a bike in a right turning lane near Barkly Square, Brunswick, that 'There's no bike lane there'. I was seriously afraid he may try to use his car to intimidate me, so I asked him if he'd like to drive in front of me instead, and he refused. I was genuinely freaked out, as I had my kid on the back of the bike. That's just one incident, but lately I've seen people honk each other aggressively, cars swerving to avoid queues, pushing in, being rude, all kinds. What's going on?

Struggling to find even 1 bottle of Huy Fong sriracha sauce anywhere. Coles and Woolworths both say out of stock online and have none on the shelves, and even the local IGA is out. Is this just one of the many supply problems we've seen this year?
